Dennys History
When Harold Butler and Richard Jezak opened Danny’s Donuts in 1953, they named it after their son, Danny. Butler’s goal was to provide customers with excellent coffee, donuts, and outstanding customer service. In 1956, Jezak stepped down as CEO, putting Butler in charge of the company. Despite Richard’s reservations, he rebranded it as a coffee shop.
An eatery in Los Angeles called Coffee Dan’s prompted them to rebrand as Denny’s Coffee Shops three years later. Burgers, steaks, spaghetti, sandwiches, fish and chips, and a slew of other dishes are now on the menu at the restaurant. However, Denny’s is most renowned for its delicious breakfast offerings. To think that Denny’s began as a basic doughnut stand is incredible, given the vast range of foods offered now.
